Trouble Shooting of vacuum in condenser

Check points for low vacuum in condenser

1. Condenser and System Leak Checks

·        Inspect all flanges, joints, manholes, and sensor ports for air ingress.

·        Check for cracks on condenser body, vents , drains and pipe line.

·        Examine expansion bellows, rupture disks, and drain valves for leaks.

·        Use agarbati leak detection simple methods to find ingress points

2.  Ejector Inspection

·        Ensure vacuum ejectors are operating within design parameters.

·        Confirm proper operation of intake and exhaust valves.

·        Confirm ejector strainer and nozzles are properly cleaned

3. Condenser Cooling and Water System

·        Ensure adequate cooling water flow and correct inlet/outlet temperatures.

·        Inspect for proper operation of circulating pumps.

·        Monitor for temperature differences across condenser halves, which may indicate air pockets or inefficient heat exchange

4. Non-Condensable Gas Removal

·        Confirm non-condensable air ejectors are functional.

·        Check for excessive load on ejectors due to air ingress.

·        Inspect ejector nozzles for wear and verify motive steam quality and pressure

5. Operational Checks

·        Verify turbine load and operation within specified limits.

·        Ensure proper gland sealing steam pressure to prevent air ingress at shaft seals.

6. Documentation and Record-Keeping

·        Maintain logs of all maintenance, inspections, and observed symptoms.

·        Compare current operating parameters with historical and design data to identify deviations
