Power plant running efficiently with the proper function with the different departments like operation, maintenance, -Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation, purchase and store, admin, safety & security,HR, Training and development, accounts, Environment etc. In technical side ,works are divided into four major sections:

1.OPERATION CONTROL 2.MAINTENANCE CONTROL   3.REGULATORY CONTROL                    4.IMPROVEMENT CONTROL



Operation Control
Main Responsibilities are

§Knowledge of the machine and the process
§Operation sequences and consequences
§Protection and interlock of the system/equipment
§Maintaining the shift  the log book
§Safety of the man and machine
§Maintain the MIS documents , tripping and break down analysis and history,
§Change over schedule and trial run of the emergency equipment
Maintenance Control
Main Responsibilities are
§Knowledge of the machine and the process
§Preventive maintenance schedule
§Daily maintenance
§ Spare parts maintaining
§Preparedness for break down and shut down
§Lubrication schedule
§Annual maintenance
§CBM  - bearing temp , vibration trend and analysis
§Testing – oil (transformer, turbine , Critical gear box etc)
§Thickness measurement – Boiler tube, any  area subject to wear tear
Regulatory Control
Main Responsibilities are
§Pollution : Flue gas spm, SOx, NOx
§                    Effluents from N Pit water: pH, temp, oil, ss
§                    Air at surroundings:
§                    Noise level at surroundings
§                    Cooling Tower: pH, Temp, SS, Cl, Oil
§Annual inspection by electrical inspector (State)
§Annual inspection by Chief Boiler Inspector (State)
§Water withdrawal and cess with State Gov
§Connectivity with grid and PPA with SEB
§Electricity generation and cess with SEB
§Fuel (coal) linkage with CIL
§Ash disposal and utilisation
§Clearance from factory inspector
§Factory / company /labour/establishment related certificates
Improvement Control
Main Responsibilities are
§Implementation of IMS/TPM/WCM system
§Failure analysis with different techniques and preventive action
§Operating data analysis and identify the differences between manual/PAT data
§Energy Management: Auxiliary power reduction, heat rate improvement,  reduction in water consumption,
§Monitoring the efficiency and losses of  Boiler, turbine and its auxiliaries
§Training to the O&M personnel

Reason For Silica Deposition In Turbine

  Silica Deposition in Turbine How is silica coming to turbine? There are two types silica : 1. Colloidal Silica: SiO2-O-SiO2-  More prevalent in water from surface source pH>7,, this is insoluble and mainly removed by UF, Coagulation, Nano filtration. 2. Reactive Silica: (OH)3Si-O- This is soluble  and removed by EDI (Electro deionisation), RO. But  Silica is coming in turbine through steam from Boiler. Silica in steam should be less than 0.02ppm . It can be increased due to following reason: 1.        High silica level in steam drum: : Silica in drum should be less than 2ppm upto 100ata drum pr ref fig below (drum pr vs silica level and pH) .If it increases above this value, blow down (IBD and CBD ) should be operated to control the silica level.   Secondly it can be seen when boiler is not properly cleaned during commissioning time.
